Sufiah

Sufiah Yusof is a name that shock the world once upon a time.
And that name shocks the world again.
It shocked many hearts.
It shocked the hearts of Malaysians, especially the ones who lived through the time when Sufiah was followed closely by both local and international medias.

Sufiah was a genius young lady who entered the Oxford University at the age of 13.
She was a Mathematics genius who was 'trained' and 'taught' under the hot-housing method, pioneered by her father, Farooq Yusof.

Sufiah with her father, Farooq Yusof and her sister at Oxford University.

Sadly, not all beautiful beginnings end in the same manner.

i have not the heart to mention what she have become.
Sufiah should have been a role-model to math-dumb persons like me.
Instead she became what 'most' parents would not want their kids to be.
Again, i do not have the heart to say it.

Now, many people are getting themselves busy with Kempen Selamatkan Sufiah (Save Sufiah Campaign).
At the time this post is being created, the latest news is 4,000 members of a Malaysian political party who are in UK were put on the effort to find and save Sufiah.

To me (and to many more Malaysians), these actions are a bit 'unfair' to the youths of Malaysia.

Or to be exact, Malay youths.

We have our hands filled with problems that are too much bugging our minds.
Mat rempits.
Addicts.
Sex harassment cases.
More addicts.
Youths who never get the chance to enter college.
Youths who never get the chance to enter college because of financial problems.
All (or mostly) involving the Malay youths.

i don't want to produce more hurting and sad facts.
Considering myself as a newcomer, and as one of the Malay youths.
i leave the hardcore to the experts.

Silat and Faliq 1

This is a topic that I love very very much to talk about.
Eat Silat.
Sleep Silat.
Dream Silat.
Silat Silat.
Haha!

Silat is a part of my life.
It runs in my vein.
It is in my genes.
And it will be in my children's genes.
My grandchildren's genes.
My great-grandchildren's genes.

And so on.

Since i was a small kid, i always followed my dad to Silat classes.
Jalan Putra, Keramat, GMI are just some of the places that i've been with my dad.
The most memorable was Jalan Putra, Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

It was a big traditional Malay house.
The lawn was used as the training ground.

Every class nights, i'd seat aside, fascinating myself looking at the students.

Back home, i'd 'practice' myself the movements (it was actually kungfu! haha!).
i imagined i had a sparring partner in front of me and i'd be beating up his ass!

Yeah i'm weird!
Kids used to have tea parties or bicycle races with their imaginary friends.
But i practiced 'Silat' with him!

Haha!

That was how much i loved Silat.
i asked my dad to enroll me on a Silat class, but he refused.
i was too young, he claimed.

But upon my 'endless request and begging and nagging and blah blah blah', he enrolled me in the Silat Sendeng class nearby my house.

i was 10 at that time.

This is Silat Sendeng Malaysia's logo.

i enjoyed the class very much!
i came early, and i was the last to go back.

The instructors were fun and kind.

But most of all, the satisfaction of being able to learn how to PUNCH!

Unfortunantely, the class was moved to somewhere farther, because of some 'interventions and disrespectful acts' from some other martial arts society.

And so, my journey in Silat Sendeng ended after 3 months of practice.
i learnt the Belebat 1 until 7 (or 6, i can't remember), and the Lela Sembah.

After discontinuing my studies in Sendeng, i never enrolled myself in any other martial arts.
i turned into a normal kid who likes music and music videos.

HAHA!

That's all for today, i'll continue again later...

See you when i see you!

Craziness, Hotness, Headache-ness, Craziness.

Whoaaa...
Today was actually crazy.
C
R
A
Z
Y
!

The sun was shining.
The wind was blowing.
The birds were singing.

And thousands of people gathered at the Damansara carpark for the Menara Milenium fire drill.
And i mean THOUSANDS!

We all had to seat, stand and sweat under the glaring sunshine.
Everybody complained,
"Waaaa why is it so hot aaa?"
"Haiya siao lorh so hot one."
"Weh aku xtahan panas dowh."
"Bilela nak abes ni...?"
At that time, people were hoping that the day would become a bit less-sunnier.

And their wishes were granted.

Just 2 hours after the fire drill, the HOT fire drill;
Pusat Bandar Damansara had the worst storm so far in this year.

People were stranded here and there.
2 staffs of HSBC also stuck somewhere near the Mama's Kitchen or something.

And for me.....
i went out for lunch at 3.45pm.
Haha...

Oh i forgot.
i worked alone today. ALONE.
My officer was on EL.
My senior colleague was on MC.
And i worked with my bad headache, alone.

Haha!

Good training.
Good experience.
But bad, bad headache.....

See you when i see you!
More to tell in the next blog.

=)
